NTRO has announced an Electric Truck Fire Safety Information Toolkit to help fleets prepare drivers, workshops and depots for battery-electric heavy vehicles.
The 8 October announcement says the project was funded through the NHVR’s Heavy Vehicle Safety Initiative, supported by the Australian Government. NTRO managed the work, EV FireSafe developed the technical material and NRSPP at Monash University produced the educational resources.
The package covers prevention, warning signs, evacuation, information for emergency services and recovery after an incident. It includes fact sheets, posters, presentations, videos and facilitator material for workplace training.
Build preparation into the transition
For fleets introducing electric trucks, the practical task is to connect vehicle deployment with training and an emergency plan for each operating setting.
The toolkit addresses the workshop, road and depot separately. Its availability does not establish a truck-specific fire rate or remove the need for vehicle-specific procedures.
