Australia Post has broken ground on a new parcel facility in Morwell, Victoria, with the regional hub expected to open in late 2027.

In its 19 October announcement, Australia Post described the project as a multimillion-dollar investment in its Gippsland network. The company says the facility will be capable of processing up to 5,000 parcels a day.

The hub will be the first development within the Gippsland Logistics and Manufacturing Precinct in Morwell, according to Australia Post.

Regional parcel capacity

Australia Post said Victorians spent $20 billion online in 2025 and pointed to continuing e-commerce growth in regional communities as a reason for expanding its parcel-processing network.

The company has not specified an exact opening date beyond late 2027 in its announcement. The stated 5,000-parcel daily capacity is a planned capability, not a current throughput figure.

The development adds a new regional parcel-processing site to Australia Post’s network in eastern Victoria.
